Just over a mile down the road, massive pecan trees surround the quiet little park and the North Concho River runs through it. You can catch small perch and bass, but the fireflies in the evening are the main attraction!
West Texas Crossroads
Just 15 minutes away history and nature converge on the banks of O.C. Fisher Reservoir and the Concho River, near San Angelo. ExÂplore on land, play in the water, and enjoy a look at Texas’ past. You can hike, bike, ride horses and geocache.Â
Stop by the bison and longhorn padÂdocks to see relics of Texas’ early days. San Angelo is home to the Official Texas State Longhorn Herd.
Fun on the Water
Just 30 minutes away a variety of activities take place on and around the lake, including annual world-class drag boat races and an annual Fourth of July fireworks display that lights up the skies and can be enjoyed from miles around. A quick getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city, the area offers a destination spot for boating, fishing, camping, running, hiking, biking and bird-watching, and features the San Angelo Nature Center, where a variety of exotic and native animals are showcased.
